What changes the number
Where brands overspend
- 1
Buying one perfect film instead of a library
A single ₹3 lakh hero film with nothing to support it usually underperforms ₹3 lakh spent on one hero plus twenty short assets that keep your channels alive.
- 2
Paying for reshoots caused by a vague brief
The most expensive line in production is the day you have to do again. A signed-off brief and shot list is free insurance.
- 3
Upgrading kit instead of crew
A better gaffer changes the image more than a better camera body. Brands routinely approve the camera upgrade and decline the lighting crew.
Frequently asked questions
How much should a startup spend on its first video?
₹60,000 to ₹1 lakh for a single day that produces one product video plus a batch of short vertical cuts. Resist spending your whole content budget on one polished film before you know which message converts.
Does a more expensive video perform better?
Only up to a point, and the point is lower than most people expect. Above a basic threshold of competent lighting, sound and editing, performance is driven by the idea, the hook and the offer. Production value matters most for brand perception at the premium end.
Can we supply our own footage to reduce cost?
Yes, and for some brands it is the right call. We frequently edit brand-supplied or creator footage — see video editing and post-production. The saving is real as long as the footage is technically usable.
What is not usually included in a quote?
Paid media spend, talent usage extensions beyond the agreed term, additional review rounds, rush fees and travel outside the quoted city. A good quote names all of these even when they are zero.
